Wetland Restoration

Since the early 1990’s we have worked cooperatively with VDOT to develop effective wetland creation and restoration strategies for their wetland impact mitigation programs.

Our work has focused on Coastal Plain forested wetland creation due to the large amount of impact to that resource, but our current project (Weanack) is focused on a tidal freshwater wetland site in Charles City County.  This work has been collaborative with Rich Whittecar at Old Dominion University and Jim Perry at the Virginia Inst. Of Marine Sciences. The VDOT research programs have been managed by Mike Fitch of the Virginia Transportation Research Council in Charlottesville.
