Our coal mining reclamation research programs have been continuously active since 1979 with generous support from the Powell River Project, the Office of Surface Mining and numerous industry collaborators. Since 1989, we have also worked cooperatively with Iluka Resources on mineral sands mining reclamation in Virginia and Florida. In addition to these major long term efforts, we have also worked on sand & gravel mine reclamation and hard rock quarry closure. Beyond our efforts in the USA, we have actively participated in collaborative research programs with Brazil, China and Poland.
