Profile: I
grew up in San Antonio, TX. I received his B.S. (1978) in Range & Wildlife
Management at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX then worked for two years
as Range Conservationist with USDA-SCS in Texas. I completed an M.S. in Range
Science (1983) also at Texas Tech then went to work as USDA-SCS Soil Scientist
in TX, NH, MN, and MT. In 1980, I moved to Ithaca, NY to work full-time and
complete a Ph.D. (1997) in soil science at Cornell University. I then completed
two post-docs, one at Cornell, one at the University of Florida. In 1999,
I began working at Virginia Tech as Asst. Professor. I married a West-Texas
farmgirl in 1977 and we have five children and two grandchildren.
