Profile: I
grew up in Northern NJ and decided I had enough of the New York City
Suburban Sprawl and headed south to get my undergraduate degree from
Virginia Tech. I started my freshman year as a geology major. During my
sophomore year I took soils and was hooked. As an undergraduate I was
active in the agronomy club and a member of the men’s varsity swim team.
I graduated in 1987 and headed north to pursue my MS degree in soil
chemistry at the University of Delaware. I graduated in 1989 and left
for Nepal as a
Peace Corps volunteer in 1990. I returned to the States 6 months later
and moved to Atlanta Georgia where I worked for an environmental
consulting firm. After 3 years I returned to
the University of Delaware to pursue my Ph.D. in Environmental Soil
Chemistry. After graduation I moved to Baton Rouge Louisiana (LSU) to
become an Assistant Professor of
Environmental Soil Chemistry and an expert at eating crawfish. Two years
later I had the opportunity to return to Virginia Tech as an Assistant
Professor of Environmental Soil Chemistry. I am a diehard hokie who
loves Southwest Virginia, teaching and conducting research. I'm an avid
mountain biker and hiker. My hobbies are brewing beer, brewing beer, and
brewing more beer.
