Academic Advisors - Undergraduate Programs

It is very important for you to maintain contact with your degree program advisor(s). They are here to help you succeed and to get the most from your time at Virginia Tech.

Academic Advisors can:

  • Give advice on degree options, courses, and substituions
  • Help you find interships
  • Provide references as you begin seeking employment, graduate studies, or professional degrees
  • Help you in many, many other ways.

Students are assigned an academic advisor by our undergraduate program coordinators. Please contact these individuals if you have questions concerning advising and other opportunities concerning your academic pursuits at Virginia Tech.

Community College Articulation Agreement

The sad truth is that Virginia Tech cannot admit all qualified students who apply for admission as freshmen. Thanks to a recent articulation agreement between Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the pathway to a Virginia Tech degree in CSES and ENSC has been made much easier for students transferring from Community Colleges throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. For details, see the University Articulation Agreement webpage.

Graduate Advisors

The department has a graduate student coordinator who oversees the application process, makes teaching assignments, communicates university and departmental policies, and provides general advice on graduate programs.

Graduate students select a major advisor (or co-advisors) based on their area of interest and availability of of funding for various research projects. For information, see the Graduate Studies page.
